How Parents Can Support Their Child's Learning Journey
The involvement of parents and primary carers in a child’s education has a positive influence on learning and development. As a child’s earliest role model, your perception of the world will naturally impact theirs. Loving and stable relationships at home help children to feel safe and confident to express themselves. Confident, happy children are inquisitive and open to new things, helping them thrive in a learning environment.
Parent / Teacher Relationships
At Ascolta Early Learning & Care, we invite parents to play an active role in their child’s learning experiences. It is vital that children see parents and teachers working as a team and striving towards the same goals – to raise children to love learning.
Our education leaders and room teams offer the opportunity for all parents to be involved in two-way communication and we love hearing about new achievements or activities your child is enjoying. Your communication with our team means coming into the centre is enjoyable for your child, helping them stay open to new ideas and arrive excited to learn.
Communicating With Your Child
Talking, asking questions and listening helps children develop valuable language skills. Making and rectifying mistakes is an important part of learning and, how we demonstrate this as adults, can contribute to independence and resilience in children.

Importance of Reading Aloud
One-on-one time spent reading to your child provides opportunities to focus, presence and builds empathy and security. Reading stories ignites a child’s curiosity of the world and helps them develop language and emotion. Children learn sounds, words and even inflection from listening to reading. Reading is an excellent learning activity for language, interpretation and literacy skills.
Peaceful, uninterrupted attention fosters strong relationships, making it just as beneficial to adults as children.
If you’re unsure, ask your child’s room leader for suggestions. Our Ascolta team are always happy to help.
